Located almost adjacent to the more widely known and popular Issaquena Falls, Yellow Branch Falls requires a bit more effort to get to but is, in my opinion, far more beautiful. Beginning from a small picnic area just off Highway 28 a short distance south of Issaquena, the 1.5 mile trail to Yellow Branch is well-traveled, easy to follow, and only moderate in difficulty. Passing through a beautiful woodland of rhododendron, tulip poplar, and oak the Yellow Branch Falls Trail no doubt also sports a dizzying array of wildflowers in the early spring. On this day the wildflowers were a bit far and few between but, per recommendation, recent rains promised a spectacular sight once we reached the falls. The word spectacular to describe this cascade falls far short, however, of adequately describing this gem in one word. Uncountable ribbons of water cascading down a 75' cliff almost as wide as it is tall this waterfall is simply one of the most, if not the most, beautiful in South Carolina. Come along with us and discover this natural wonder for yourself...
