Cheboygan State Park (Shore Loop)
Cheboygan State Park is a relatively undiscovered gem of the straits area. Its a great place to stretch your legs any time of the year but I hadn't visited in the off-season yet so I decided to check it out.
I was hoping that a lakeside hike would save me from dealing with too much white stuff but it had been a slow thaw this year and there was still a remarkable amount of it left. I intended to do a 5-mile loop along the beach north to Cheboygan Point and then head inland on the way back. my plans changed when I realized just how much snow WAS left and I ended up abandoning the trails almost all together and making a coastal loop instead...turning this into a more interesting hike than it might otherwise have been...
