P.J. Hoffmaster State Park - Homestead Loop

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park is located midway between Muskegon and Grand Haven and is a pristine island of what the Lake Michigan shore in southern Michigan was once like before man arrived. It is also home to the Gillette Visitor Center which is one of the finest places to learn about the unique dunes ecosystem that covers most of the park.

We had only a few hours to look around so we headed out to do the 3-mile Homestead loop. The trail wanders through a variety of terrain, from steep wooded dunes, sandy fields, to beach and open dunes. I could have gone for a bit more blue sky but as the first snowless hike of the year it was enjoyable nonetheless...
