North Point Preserve
North Point Preserve, located at the north end of Charlevoix, is a small glimpse at the way the Northwest Michigan shoreline must have looked before it was overrun by lake homes, condominiums, and golf courses. The trails here are unnamed, unmarked, and criss-cross the woodlands in a rather haphazard manner. All this means is that you are at your leisure to pick where you want to head next. For this hike I'd first head up Mount McSauba, a local ski area in winter, for some nice views, then along the lakeshore exploring the dunes, and then over to North Point itself...
