Less than a mile along the North Country Trail splits off to the right...
I knew that heading north a bit on the NCT I'd get some nice views across O'Briens Pond. These foot bridges take you across the west shore...
The hills across O'Briens Pond were beginning to look a bit frosted...
Reeds poke up through the shallow waters of O'Briens Pond...
As I made my way back to the main loop the snow was really strating to get serious...
The loop follows the marshy north shore of O'Briens Pond. The surrounding forest was in real rough shape here...

About a quarter mile from the NCT split, the trail makes a left and starts to head uphill...

As the trail heads into the uplands the woods become more dominated by hardwoods...
For a brief time the pathway runs along a snowmobile trail that is sure to be quite busy in a couple months...
