Grand Canyon NP -- South Rim Driving Tour (4-16-17)
Read MoreGrand Canyon Visitor Center
The visitor center complex is huge but, in all honesty, a bit lacking in interpretive displays. There's no museum to speak of. It was clear that the main purpose of this complex is to simply get the hordes of people which visit it on their way in the most efficient manner possible. That said, it is a very clean and well-designed area...
Grandview Point -- 7,399'
In the center foreground of this shot is Horseshoe Mesa (5,250'). I had originally eyeballed this as a possible hiking destination. A 6-mile out-and-back trek via the Grandview Trail brings you right down to its outer edge. Alas, as with many other possible hikes on this trip, it couldn't be done for lack of time...
Desert View Watchtower -- 7,438'

Duck-on-a-Rock Viewpoint -- 7,100'
Our last stop of our South Rim driving tour was on the way back to the Village at the famous 'Duck-on-a-Rock' Viewpoint, located between Grandview and Yaki Points. Though we were hard-pressed to see the likeness of a duck in this unique formation, the view it overlooks was still spectacular...
